Being A Foster Carer Can Make The Difference

There are often complex reasons why some children are unable to live with their birth families and end up being placed in foster care, but with the help of extraordinary, yet humble families, we can begin to make a positive difference.

At Perpetual Fostering, we truly recognise and support the amazing work that our community of foster carers are doing on a daily basis to brighten and enrich the lives of the children and young people within our care.

Our foster carers are never alone

Whenever you decide to foster with us, it’s important to understand that you’re never alone at any stage. Our team of dedicated and dynamic social workers are always on hand to encourage and motivate our inspirational foster families whenever they need a helping hand.

Perhaps from the outside looking in, you could be mistaken for thinking that being a foster carer is to provide a short-term solution until a longer, more durable position can be sought. Quite often, this can be a core reason why people may be put off by the idea of being a foster carer.

Well, not only do we make sure that our foster carers are supported, trained and rewarded from the moment they begin their fostering journey, we also know that fostering is so much more than what people first envisage.

Being a foster carer is about loving, laughing and embracing

Seeing a child that was once a stranger in your home several weeks ago begin to blossom, smile and become comfortable with their surroundings is what fostering is really all about. Being a foster carer is not about managing episodes of problematic behaviour to ensure that children and young people are kept safe, it’s sharing an uplifting experience, cherishing the memories and making a real difference to their lives.

Watching them gain in confidence, understand and articulate their emotions, as well as develop as fantastic young people is what makes being a foster carer worthwhile. To see what was once a vulnerable child begin to eat and sleep well, join their first after-school club and start to make friends is all part of the heartwarming experience that our foster carers share, so when would you like to start?

Virtually anyone can foster, as there are very few barriers to being a foster carer with Perpetual Fostering. We train, support and motivate our fantastic community foster carers from the moment they join to an extremely high standard.

In addition to all the help and advice you could possibly need, we provide great financial support, as well as tax relief opportunities for all our foster carers.

If you would like the chance to make a difference to a child in need, or you would like to receive more information about being a foster carer with us, apply online and start your journey today.
