Why Foster Carers Require The Best Level Of Support

Regardless of whether you’re thinking about becoming a foster carer, you’ve just recently joined the Perpetual Fostering family, or you’re one of our more experienced foster carers, we work hard to provide you with the right level of advice, training and support, whenever you require it.

From respite care and practical training to financial support and out of hours contact, we truly value the importance of our foster families that not only help to provide vulnerable children with a loving and caring home, but also aim to improve the knowledge and understanding of their peers.

Although we have recently been commended for the way that our foster parents quickly excel to develop their skills, understanding and knowledge of fostering within a year of joining Perpetual Fostering, we still look to strengthen the qualities of our more experienced foster carers.

Whether pre or post approval, each potential foster carer is guaranteed the highest level of support and training by our dedicated team of social workers. However, it is equally important to ensure this same level of encouragement is also provided to our more experienced foster carers so that they can stay well motivated, regardless of whether they have a current foster placement or not.

At Perpetual Fostering we’re here to support our foster carers from the very beginning with regular visits, excellent out of hours contact and the opportunity to become part of our fostering community with other existing foster carers who can relate to your situation.

It’s not just practical and emotional support that we aim to provide to our new and existing foster carers, as we feel it is crucial to provide you with as much information about the child prior to their arrival. If we can prepare our foster carers for the arrival of a child, it is then much easier to remove the natural anxiety and apprehension that a foster carer may be feeling. As a result, stronger, happier and healthier relationships can be built from the very start.

The main motivation for every potential foster carer should be to bring about a lasting difference to the life of a child. On the other hand, making such positive changes to a child’s future is virtually impossible without sufficient financial support.

Ultimately, the financial incentives we provide to each of our foster parents does vary, but being a foster carer with Perpetual Fostering is a financially rewarding prospect which can also benefit from considerable tax relief.
